Al, Carl, Bob and Mary

Frantic! consists of Al Knight on Guitar and Vocals, Carl Gabel on Bass and Vocals and Bob Landry, Drums and Percussion. Of course all that great talent needs to be amplified, Mary handles the live sound for the guys.

It is apparent watching the band in action that they are more than just members in a band. They are Frantic!, they are a family. The laughter and joking between the band members and the audience makes everyone feel like part of the Frantic! family. To learn more about the band please read on.

Al Knight.

Al Knight, dubbed "Broadway Al Knight" by Carl, is a man of not only many guitars and pedals, but also of many sounds. Al is a total gearhead and is always experimenting with new toys in order to find just the right sound. His current main guitar is a Godin Acoustic/Electric which allows him the versatility of two sounds with one guitar. He is a Strat guy by nature, but also enjoys playing Hamer guitars. He has had several including a DuoTone which was once owned by Ty Tabor. Let's not forget Gibson. On a rare night you just may get a chance to catch him with his ES-1275 doubleneck. At most shows Al will have at least one guitar change, sometimes more.

Marshall, Gibson and Fender amps are used by this Frantic! guitar player. "How does he get that sound?" Tubes baby! Besides the amps Al adds several other tricks to the mix...

Theremin- no this is not a vitamin supplement, it is an instrument. If you ever saw Jimmy Page playing the gizmo with the antenna sticking out of it, then you know what a Theremin is.

Talk Box- made famous by Peter Frampton, Al works this into several Frantic! songs. Way cool!

Violin Bow??? Yes, Al has found a place for the violin bow in his guitar case, you'll have to see the band for yourself to enjoy it.

The Science Project- Al has the biggest pedal board around, and that is not bragging. A mix of all the right stuff allows Al to get those great sounds like no other. He is a master of the pedals.

Carl Gabel

Now introducing Carl Gabel. Carl's main axe is his black Fender Precision Bass, which he almost exclusively plugs into an Ampeg of one shape or size. Yes, from a small combo to the big behemouth, Carl has several Ampeg Amps to choose from.

In addition to playing bass he will whip out a harp on a few tunes and has been caught at the keyboard. A few rare shows featured Carl on keys, basspedals and bass- all at the same time! Now that is no small feat!

Bob Landry

Bob Landry is the Frantic! drummer, he holds tight and always has a smile when he plays. Bob mainly plays a vintage Sonor kit and the drums always sound great! Bob takes great care in tuning those puppies. Bob joined Al and Carl several years ago and fit right in. Word of caution, hands off the fuzzy dice! 

Mary Knight

No- Mary does not sing with the band. Mary is busy behind the scenes making sure the boys are ready to rock and roll and have the venues and live sound in place. Mary will pick up a tambourine or rhythm shakers adding some accents to the percussion, but no sir, she does not sing.

Fetching beer, handing out business cards, mixing the live sound, roadie, finding words and sometimes acting as a human music stand, Mary is the Mr. Kincaid of Frantic!
